SIR – I am hopeful that further to recent positive information regarding the proposed installation of infrastructure to improve the quality of internet service in parts of the Keighley district, the very poor internet download speeds available in parts of the Worth Valley Ward will finally be addressed.

However, the Worth Valley is a very large geographical area, and the problem is spread across more than one particular patch, which leaves me concerned that while some residents – possibly those in areas where it takes the least investment and the least effort – may see an improvement in their download speeds, those unfortunate enough to live in areas requiring greater investment and effort levels may see no improvement to the service they receive.

My ward colleagues and I have been working on this issue for a protracted period now, and I am disappointed that to date neither BT nor Virgin have responded to correspondence on the matter, possibly providing indication that the big corporations may not be treating the problems of smaller communities with as much urgency or commitment as we might now be hoping.

I do hope this is not the case and that all of the smaller communities that make up the Worth Valley ward will soon receive download speeds comparable with other areas throughout Bradford district.
