The role of a local newspaper such as the Telegraph & Argus is largely two-fold: Our primary concern, of course, is reporting all the news that is relevant to our readership, and doing it first and best. These days that means utilising the internet and digital technologies as well as the traditional printed page.

But as well as reporting the news, the T&A also sees itself as a newspaper which must sometimes set the agenda as well. We do this through our many campaigns and initiatives which you will often see badged up with logos, and which often go behind the headlines to give you the bigger picture of ongoing issues which affect all our communities.

Local Newspaper Week, which begins on Monday, has as its theme this year Making A Difference, and that is something the T&A has a long and illustrious heritage of, and which we are proud to continue today on all the platforms – innovative and traditional – on which we deliver your news to you.

For the first time, the organisers of Local Newspaper Week are inviting you, the readership of the T&A, to vote for which you think is the best campaign run by a local newspaper anywhere in the country.

Of all the campaigns run by the T&A, they have chosen our bid to stop the National Media Museum being closed, one of which we are especially proud. We hope you feel the same way about our efforts to stop the axe falling on this Bradford gem, and that you’ll visit telegraphandargus.co.uk to find details of how you can easily cast your vote from Monday.

It was a great campaign with a huge amount of public support, and it deserves to be in the spotlight once again.
