SIR – I have just read the story about the stupidity of the Council fining the Bingley Church congregation on a Sunday (T&A, May 5).
As well as wondering who is supposedly in charge of the Council and wishing them a speedy non-pensioned retirement, I wish to pass on to those who have been ticketed/fined that if they’ve parked on broken yellow lines, as showed when the wardens’ own van was parked in the picture, then the ticket/fine is invalid.
Double yellows have to be totally unbroken throughout their length for them to apply. My advice is to take photos to prove them ‘broken’, and challenge ’em to the hilt!
