SIR – I was interested in the letter from David Hornsby (T&A, April 30) with regard to people on benefits having to find work.
It would appear that he thinks that getting benefits is not pay. It looks like he thinks that if they have to do a job that they should not only get paid but also receive benefits at the same time. I think that a lot of people would like that.
I would think that if they are on benefits and having to do a job that they are getting paid. I think that he should have lived before the Second World War when this was normal.
