Sir – Residents in Thackley are understandably up in arms at the proposal to build 270 homes on a greenfield site adjacent to Leeds Road (T&A, April 30). This is just about the only remaining green lung between Thackley and Shipley, and it is therefore surely vital that it is preserved.
Wayne Gradwell, managing director of Persimmon Homes, says that “we have endeavoured to address the concerns of the local residents”.
Not so, Mr Gradwell. If you had done so, then you would have withdrawn your totally unwanted planning application.
Unfortunately, all such developers have no real concern whatever for the residents of areas that they wish to over-develop.
Bob Watson, Springfield Road, Baildon
