SIR – The letter from D Rhodes (T&A, March 31) referring to a local serviceman being mentioned on a TV programme as a result of his bravery under enemy fire almost made me laugh out loud.
To be awarded a “mention in dispatches” is a high military honour, but the same cannot – at least not yet – be said for having one’s name mentioned on the Channel 4 current affairs programme Dispatches.
Whether Aircrewman Sunderland can laugh at the letter without hurting may depend on how well he has recovered from the wounds he received in Afghanistan.

- EDITOR’S NOTE: You’re quite right – but it was nothing to do with Mr Rhodes, to whom we apologise most sincerely. It was a careless error by a confused sub-editor who has been instructed to urgently brush up on his military history.
