SIR – Unusually there have been two mistakes recently regarding the Cathedral/The Bradford Diocese.

On February, in a report regarding the start of the Bradford Diocese, Jim Greenhalf (usually very accurate) reported that after his consecration Bishop Perowne moved to Bishopcroft in Ashwell Road in Heaton.

In actual fact he went to Horton Hall (in years gone by the home of the famous Abraham Sharp). Bishops of Bradford only lived in Bishopcroft when Bishop Coggan was consecrated as he refused to live in Horton Hall due to its dilapidated condition.

As a footnote the hall was taken over by our Council, who promised to look after it but as usual did nothing about it and so it was vandalised and eventually pulled down. It is now the site of a Church of England school.

This week, regarding the recordings of Songs Of Praise, David Wilson said that this was the first time that Songs Of Praise had been recorded form Bradford.

This is wrong as it was recorded from Eastbrook Hall involving the Cathedral choir and conductor and congregation, as well as the Eastbrook congregation, about 30 years ago.
