SIR – As an avid Keighley Cougars supporter for more than 50 years, you will appreciate some of the fantastic highs and lows I have witnessed.

Nothing, however, compares to the comedy of errors being played out at Odsal – the players, fans and the oft-forgotten foot soldiers that man the offices, turnstiles and other behind-the-scenes functions must wonder what on earth has hit them.

The RFL have come in for huge unwarranted criticism. Personally I think they have shown a great deal of patience as one scheme after another has been wheeled before them – this debacle has done untold harm to our sport’s credibility.

Once again the only winners will be the administrators, who will laugh all the way to the bank whatever the final outcome. When we were in a similar situation we were deducted nine points (which is arguably what the Bulls should have been deducted). With the supreme efforts of coach Barry Eaton and our players we almost avoided relegation.

If the Bulls players are as close-knit as we are told I genuinely believe they have a good chance of avoiding the drop.

Who knows, we might be playing them in Super League ourselves next year!
