SIR – There is no doubt many of your readers will have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Unfortunately we have found many people do not have enough information to help them with their diabetes.
With this in mind, the Independent Diabetes Trust (IDDT) has produced a range of free booklets, including Understanding Your Diabetes and Diabetes: Everyday Eating to provide information in non-medical language to help people with both types to understand their treatment, to improve their health and to make life easier.
Being diagnosed may mean a stay in hospital at some time, so we have a free ‘Hospital Passport’. This provides staff with vital information about the person and how their condition is managed.
For a free information pack, call 01604 622837, e-mail martin@iddtinternational.org or write to IDDT, PO Box 294, Northampton.
Martin Hirst, acting chief executive officer, Independent Diabetes Trust
