SIR – Dogs Trust would like to say a big thank you to its Freedom foster carers in Yorkshire for all of their hard work last year.

Dogs Trust Freedom Project is a pet fostering scheme providing vital help for families escaping domestic violence. Many refuges are not able to accept pets, so pet owners often remain in a violent situation for fear of what might happen to their pet if they leave it behind.

More than 36 victims of domestic violence were helped in 2013 in Yorkshire, with 63 dogs fostered, something which simply couldn’t have been achieved if it wasn’t for our amazing foster carers who look after the pets in their own home until they can be safely reunited with their owners.

If you would like to help us make a difference by becoming a foster carer please visit www.dogstrustfreedomproject.org.uk or call 0800 298 9199.
