SIR – Recently, a lovely lady boarded the bus I was driving, the X6 heading for Leeds.
“I’ve had a wonderful day in Bradford, visiting a friend I haven’t seen in 50 years,” she cooed. “But hasn’t the city become such a dump?”
She uttered these words with a mixture of sadness and disgust.
I responded by suggesting for her to think in terms of shock-rock icon Alice Cooper.
Everyone would love to be a ‘Peter Pan’ (Leeds) but someone has to be a ‘Captain Hook’ (Bradford).
She smiled at this. I asked her if she would come to Bradford again... “of course I will” and she went and sat down.
