SIR – On February 1, I attended a public meeting at the invitation of my Conservative MP, Philip Davies. A fellow constituent asked a very pertinent question of our MP; when will we be getting the proposed Shipley Eastern bypass?
Mr Davies replied that he does not think we will be getting the bypass for as long as he is our MP. The people of Shipley constituency (and Baildon in particular) are unlikely to consider that a very meaningful answer – and they will be highly concerned to learn that Philip Davies does not seem to understand the importance of making progress with the new road.
The Shipley Eastern Bypass matters a great deal for the health of our local environment, economy and community, with traffic congestion often topping the list of residents’ and businesses’ concerns. Philip Davies needs to get his priorities in order.
Alternatively, come 2015, we could replace him with somebody more serious.
