SIR – The continuing correspondence from Baildon Town Councillor Ian Lyons, in which he complains about the petty campaigning of others, is risible.
Here is a man who asks that elections be devoid of mud-slinging, but does exactly that in his letters.
Alan Walsh (T&A, January 13) summed up the position very well when he suggested that Mr Lyons was merely using the Town Council as a stepping stone to higher ambitions, initially on Bradford Council.
Ian Lyons has already cost the Town Council a substantial sum by forcing a by-election (which he won), and has further suggested spending many more thousands on an unnecessary firepit in the village, as well as backing the expense of £3,500 on an electric car charging point when there are a mere seven such vehicles in the whole of Bradford.
His priorities for Baildon appear to be somewhat misplaced, and personally I can’t think of anyone much worse to represent Baildon on Bradford Council.
