SIR – Once again the Tory group leader Councillor Glen Miller is having another rant in respect of the cost of trade unionists within the Council.
I find it quite staggering that at a time when the city needs all the help it can get from both councillors and the general public to improve the image of Bradford, all Mr Miller can come up with is the cost of trade union representation.
This attitude gleaned from the Conservative head office would mean that hundreds, if not thousands, of members of the trade unions would not get any support if threatened with disciplinary action and/or dismissal and the Council who employs them would not have the necessary mechanism to discuss changes to working practices.
No, Mr Miller wants instead to have the power to hire and fire at will and does not want workers to have any rights. No wonder the political group he supports is called the ‘nasty party’.
