SIR – Having read Christopher Hindle’s letter (T&A, January 23), well, Christopher, well written and to the point, but I am afraid these people will never admit what really happened, and bury their heads in the sand, but that serves their purposes.

We know had the Labour Government not spent the money it borrowed on saving the banks and on the economy the situation would have been worse.

What you should ask, Christopher, is what would they have done – let the banks go to the wall and then let the economy fail altogether?
