SIR – In their Winter 2013/14 newsletter, our local Conservative councillors assert that they are “Standing up for Baildon”. They do not, however, appear to be standing up for Bradford.
They must surely know that the proposed reduction in children’s centres provision across the district is a consequence of the huge and unfairly-distributed cuts imposed upon our city Council by this Lib-Dem/ Conservative Government.
With regards to the potential closure of various public toilets, which are a service only outlying towns and villages have previously enjoyed, there are likely to be more efficient ways of running such community facilities.
Indeed, this is the perfect opportunity for our Conservative councillors to stop wringing their hands and start embracing the Big Society they so often proclaim to endorse.
