SIR – In response to Councillor Davies’s letter (T&A, January 7). I didn’t criticise her for putting the needs of her constituents first. I would’ve thought that was a basic expectation people have of their ward councillors and wouldn’t criticise that.
However, I do criticise her use of childish tactics and backbiting, especially as on more than one occasion she’s had to be corrected on the facts.
I’m not interested in having a debate with Coun Davies about who is to blame for the cuts. Whoever came to power in 2010 would have made cuts – the degree of which may have been significantly fairer under a Labour government, but cuts nonetheless.
Facts speak for themselves. Bradford Council cuts are equivalent to £147 per person. I’d suggest to Coun Davies if she’s unhappy with that fact, she should, instead of writing pointless letters, focus on being more positive and proactive in representing not just the needs of Baildon residents, but Bradford district as a whole.
I would much rather read about her achievements for Baildon and the wider community than her half-hearted retorts.
