SIR – In the Christmas period I ordered a taxi to take me to the railway station in Bradford. It was a dull, wet morning.

The taxi arrived but the driver didn’t move. I had to open the boot and install my case. The vehicle was filthy.

On arrival at the station I gave a £10 note. The driver was unhelpful, saying he had no change etc.

Eventually I was handed £4 in 20p pieces – had to once again open the boot and struggle out with my case (I am a mature lady, by the way).

Is this now normal practice, I wonder?
