SIR – In response to the article about a Keighley pub selling frogs’ legs (T&A, December 6).
Far from being a quirky French delicacy, most frogs’ legs are actually imported to the UK from Indonesia, where the animals are taken from the wild. They are then butchered while the animal is still alive and conscious – their necks are cut, their insides are removed and then the animals are cut in two. They can take many minutes to die.
While it may seem like a fun challenge or an unusual thing to do, eating frogs’ legs supports this cruel trade, and we would urge anyone considering eating them to make a kinder choice.
