SIR – As the major store groups reveal their vital Christmas sales data, we see that both House of Fraser and John Lewis have reported record performances, while Debenhams had such a dismal time it has posted a profits warning and its finance director resigned with immediate effect.
Now shall we all guess which one of those exciting and dynamic enterprises is being portrayed as the flagship anchor-tenant of the proposed Westfield development? (If you need a clue, it’s not House of Fraser or John Lewis).
Oh dear, looks like Westfield and Bradford got it wrong again.

EDITOR’S FOOTNOTE: Debenhams announced that its profit for the 17 weeks to December 28 was £85 million, a 26 per cent drop on the same period last year.
