SIR – It’s ironic we’re not allowed to use mobiles while driving but can use them while walking across roads.
A young woman crossed the road in front of me, without looking first, making me brake hard, sounding the horn. She turned and gave me the two fingers, continued.
Sat in a pub with a friend, he stared at his mobile all the time while I was with him. I moved away to chat to someone else.
A woman being served in a shop, the cashier told her the total costs, she didn’t hear at first and her goods had to be bagged for her, holding up other customers, all the time she was on her mobile.
It’s illegal to use a mobile while driving but most people doing this are actually looking out of the windscreen at the same time, even though both hands must be on the steering wheel at all times, but, think about it, only one hand on when changing gear!
As for pedestrians, there should be a law for crossing roads. That young woman was very lucky indeed.
