SIR – You may have noticed a recent T&A report saying that “Keighley could benefit from £1m of European funding”.
Over the next six months, up to the EU Elections on May 22, there will be an increasing drip-feed of deliberately EU-positive PR snippets launched into the grateful press across the country.
Don’t be fooled, it’s just a cynical and desperate ploy to rescue votes for the perpetuation of that continental club.
Perhaps we should start a game of ‘EU PR Bingo’, so whenever we see yet another planted pre-election EU PR puff-piece, we could tick off a number on our bingo-card. I suspect our cards may be full long before election day.
But now we all know the truth, we can treat this predictable parade of EU PR puffery with the contempt it deserves.
