SIR – As the T&A editorial says (December 19), it is good news for Bradford that Westfield is at long last about to start work on its Broadway site. We can all now hopefully look forward to an official opening before the Christmas of 2015.

However, let us not forget that our city will not have had the benefit of a proper shopping centre for more than ten years.

Whose responsibility was this? Why was a suitable contract not drawn up at the outset to prevent such a shambles from happening?

It really is time that the individuals concerned were held properly to account. They should not simply be allowed to carry on unshamed and unnamed. Bradford deserves proper answers for this disgraceful state of affairs which has made us a laughing stock throughout the country. Over to you, Council leaders.
