SIR – As 2013 draws to a close, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all your readers for the part they play in helping to turn young lives around and in supporting us over the past year.
The families we work with are facing tough times. One in four children in the UK is living in poverty, and cuts in welfare benefits are affecting children from the most impoverished families.
In the face of this harsh reality, our supporters across Yorkshire have all responded magnificently to ensure that we can continue to support as many vulnerable children and young people as possible. I would ask that your readers please continue to support Barnardo’s in 2014 – whether that’s by shopping at one of our stores; fundraising for us; making a gift to the charity in their will or volunteering directly with the children, young people and families we work with. Go to barnardos.org.uk to find out more.
