SIR – According to Bradford’s Labour Council leader David Green (T&A, December 14), the Council’s sickness terms and conditions “are probably more generous than some in the private sector, but then that doesn’t make them wrong.”
Get into the real world, Councillor Green. No wonder council tax continues to rise with this attitude, which also includes the previously mentioned cost of at least £200K for union matters (Letters, December 16).
The sooner private sector terms are the norm within the Council, the better it will be for ratepayers.
Unfortunately, Councillor Green appears to continue to be in denial of this fact, and consequently does a grave disservice to the ratepayers of Bradford.
