SIR – In response to the article about Sure Start plans criticised by Baildon Councillors (T&A, December 3), I too share the concerns over the Sure Start Centre.

However I would like to ask the councillors why they are not taking the matter of cuts to Bradford’s funding for Children’s Centres to their own government.

Since 2010, Bradford’s funding has had a 31 per cent cash reduction to the tune of £10.4 million pounds. This despite Bradford having nearly a quarter of its children living in poverty.

The Councillors allege this is politically motivated, however the centre will still operate under the proposed plans, just to a different model than the current one.
