SIR – S Hussain (Letters, December 5) is spot-on with his description of the mismanagement of our local politicians and in particular with his comments about the sale of our cultural heritage to raise a few pounds to keep services functioning.
If a city the size of Bradford cannot provide art and culture to raise the aspirations of its people, then once again, as in the 1960s when our politicians allowed our wonderful buildings to be demolished, we can only assume our politicians are lacking in a vision for the future of Bradford.
Once again we are being betrayed and no wonder less people turn out at elections to vote for these people with little care for our city.
Many of our arts and crafts have been donated over the years by people who were and still are proud of our city and Bradford’s new collections of Asian art is something to promote along with the more historical heritage.
Councillors should be looking for ways to encourage more people to benefit from the collections rather than selling them off for a few pounds which will never be recovered.
To those who have suggested this sell off – shame on you.
