SIR – How can a spokesman for the Ministry of Justice say that crime is falling and under this Government those who break the law are more likely to go to prison (T&A, December 6) when court statistics show that out of 18,357 drug crimes in 2012, only 979 offenders were imprisoned, while 17,378 received a non-custodial sentence?
