SIR – The bus fare cuts by First Bradford (T&A, December 3) are very welcome, but they are only part of the story.
There is a completely new management team running First Group and after 18 months the impact is showing through with lower fares, new buses and greater reliability.
Not all motorists would find the bus an improvement to their daily commute, but those living and working on a high-frequency route may find the bus better. You can relax on the bus and use your time on the phone or with a newspaper. You do not have to park the bus!
More motorists on the bus means more road space for all travellers.
Bradford Council is providing more bus priority, this is the route to much reduced congestion. This is already a reality in many UK cities and Bradford could benefit in the same way.
