SIR – We at B&Q Euroway decided, after reading one of your articles about a charity at the children’s wards at Bradford Royal Infirmary, to get in touch with them and offer our services. Being a Bradford-based store, we could think of nothing better than to help the local community.
After making contact with the hospital, we decided to decorate Ward 2 and to send decorations to Ward 16 and 17 and the children’s outpatients ward.
Throughout the process I was in contact with a lady called Alison Kay, who is the play leader for these wards. I asked her to send me a wishlist and we donated nearly £200 worth of Christmas decorations.
We had children help decorate the tree and put the star on the top, which they greatly enjoyed, and we tinselled up the ward with four members of staff, who all gave up their free time to do this.
All this put a smile on the children’s faces. There was one little girl who couldn’t get out of bed, so we took some decorations for her to decide which one she would like on the tree and she loved the santa hat.
What a fantastic experience this was, and it was all thanks to an article in the T&A.
