SIR – Regarding the Westfield development (T&A, November 22).

The credit crunch was blamed for the project stalling. I note their multi-million pound development in Stratford, right next to the Olympic Village in London, opened in 2011, just in time for the games starting. White City (London) was opened in 2008 – no sign of the credit crunch impacting on those projects.

It seems the Council is putting the whole of Bradford’s future on one roll of the dice. Next year is the tenth anniversary of Westfield in Bradford and full work still hasn’t started.

I remember the headlines in the T&A as far back as the early Sixties, and virtually every other year since – Odsal, the ‘Wembley of the North’, for instance.
