SIR – Thank you for making a clear distinction between the mobile library service and the home delivery service within it (T&A Comment, November 18).
If the mobile library service visited by the relatively able-bodied went, it would indeed be missed. Many people would have to pick up their bus pass and travel to the nearest library building.
But losing the home delivery service would be a loss of service to very vulnerable, mainly elderly, people.
However we allocate blame for the cuts being made and proposed, when push comes to shove, the district’s most vulnerable citizens have to be top priority in making any policy decisions.
