SIR – A recently-published report shows that arts funding in the capital city works out at £69 per head in London, compared to £4.58 per head in the regions.
Admittedly London, as the capital city, should receive higher per capita funding, but double or perhaps treble would be a fair cap on spending.
When is the Arts Council for England changing its name to the Arts Council for London? The London media has kept quite about this, but it is scandalous behaviour. The head of ACE should resign.
You can see now how the fight for keeping the National Media Museum was so important. It is bad enough that private companies stitch us up, but when a publicly and lottery-funded quango does the same, it is truly shocking. Further proof, if it were needed, that the metropolitan elite care for nothing and nobody other than themselves.
