SIR – Congratulations to the author of your Leader of October 30, who has at last accepted that traffic is forced to sit in lengthening queues while lanes are empty awaiting the occasional bus.
It is now six years since my fellow correspondent Graham Hoyle lucidly explained in your readers’ letters that bus lanes were counter productive, and at last it appears that it is the T&A policy to agree with him.
Perhaps if Bradford’s higher-than-average death rate resultant from traffic fumes was shown to be directly related to the bus lane policies of our traffic engineers in areas such as Manningham Lane, then common sense might prevail.
