SIR – Your readers are rightly questioning the demands for more development in Baildon and Shipley.
It is no exaggeration that infrastructure is stretched to breaking point here, and elsewhere in the Shipley constituency. So, if the demand for housing and school places is to be met, we urgently need to raise the funds to tackle this problem.
The Government is committing £15.3 billion for new infrastructure projects, and this investment is likely to continue. In the best interest of everyone, I would urge our Conservative MP, and his local councillors, to work with the Government to secure the investment we need, before we lose the required space to new supermarkets and other developments.
If they are unable to do this, perhaps it’s time to pass the baton to someone who can. Henry Ford once said, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”
Ian Lyons, Liberal Democrat Town Councillor (Baildon East), Cliffe Avenue, Baildon
