SIR – Re ‘This is going to hurt’ (T&A, October 29). Somebody must believe that the ratepayers of Bradford are totally stupid.

On the one hand we have the Council leader saying there will be 700 job cuts and the Lib Dem leader stating that she would have made the cuts in different areas. Does it really matter?

A cut is a cut and it is the Con-Dem coalition government which is forcing the cuts. Not saying how or where to cut, but to cut.

So, neither the Tories nor the Lib-Dems can claim the high ground, but similarly the Labour group and the Greens should be totally refusing to implement these cuts and be making a political stand.

If this would be too challenging, then might I suggest that the first 90 to go should be the councillors, followed by the officers and chief officers, leaving those who carry out the work on the front line (some not paid the recognised living wage) to carry on to do their jobs for the good of Bradford.
