SIR – I was very disappointed in the 15-point plan to drive up results. Children are the future of this city and they are therefore key in getting Bradford back to what it once was. If this report was homework, I would give it two out of ten.
I am surprised that the Council does not already have a number of supply teachers on their books. As someone whose post has recently been made redundant, I am registered on a number of jobsites and I constantly see teachers posts advertised by agencies.
Surely it is not value for money to use an agency, as they always take a cut of the worker’s salary. The money saved from this could be used to fund more teachers or teaching support workers Perhaps a piece of research work could be done as to why Bradford attracts so many new communities. How can we solve a problem if we don’t understand the issues?
The Council could also put in a lottery bid to fund this project. The hard evidence gained could then be utilised in an improvement plan to shape the education system of the future.
