SIR – Bradford Council is now closing their Neville Grange care home at Saltaire and my 98-year-old mother has had to be moved.

She has been a long-term resident for almost four years and before that, she attended the day care centre once weekly and then had regular spells of respite care.

It is very sad that Neville Grange is being closed, as, despite the building needing updating, the standard of care has always been very good.

The staff created a caring ethos, which is not easy to do. There was always a welcome for family and friends of the residents and one felt an ambience in the building.

My mother was always happy, safe and contented there and I hope that will continue at her new care home. Knowing where she is, I am sure that will be the case.

Bradford Council may have difficulty, if they build and open any new care homes, in recreating the good feel that Neville Grange had.

It was the staff who created that good feeling and it is sad that the place is closing with the staff having to move on to different new positions.

We offer them our best wishes for the future and say thank you for taking care of my mother during her stay there.
