SIR – I am writing a short life of my father the late Walt Powell (Yorkshire comedian 1904-1959, pictured) who was a comic on the Bradford club circuit in the 1940s and 1950s.
He worked at English Electric in Thornbury and starred in many of their all-male pantomimes as well as appearing on TV in Top Town for Barney Colehan.
His last appearance, before his sudden death at 54, was with my own skiffle group, The Delta City Six, whom you recently featured in your newspaper.
I would very much appreciate and would be pleased to receive any stories or anecdotes relating to his life.
