SIR – Why do councillors try and ban the EDL? (I don’t agree with the EDL). It’s not possible due to our grandparents fighting for freedom of speech.
Looking from another angle, our town sporting bodies Bradford Bulls, Bradford City and Bradford Park Avenue all have to pay for policing, which I understand has to be paid up front. Otherwise the sporting occasion will not take place.
With this in mind, can I ask Council leader David Green, when he discusses any march with the Home Office, that payment for a police presence be paid for.
This can be done by taking the party’s assets and returning with deductions for the payment of the large police presence. The above will make them think again and slow down the EDL movement.
