SIR – I have recently spoken to the Council about the speeding up Ashbourne Road leading on to Ingrow Lane.
I raised my concerns because I have lived at Ingrow Lane for 16 years and seen a few bumps and numerous near misses, a few of which I have had myself with speeding cars on a blind junction.
I was concerned because I knew the problem would be far greater with the addition of bumps in Broomhill.
I find it hard to believe there aren’t any speed controls on a stretch of road where there is a primary school, a school bus pick-up and a doctor’s at a junction where you can only see ten yards of oncoming traffic.
My concerns were registered, but it was explained to me the budget had been used for this year, and that also recent speed checks proved there was not a problem, which is obviously not the case as I see it every day.
I agree we probably do need to put some pressure on the Council before a serious accident does occur.
