SIR – Having done precisely what the secretary of state for local government and the MP for Keighley have demanded, it seems churlish in the least that Kris Hopkins has now decided to take issue with Keighley Town Council for putting in place a couple of common sense protocols over the filming of council meetings.
These protocols are designed merely to protect the innocent and to try and prevent their use by unscrupulous people to cause harm and ridicule. Is he saying children and vulnerable adults should not be protected?
Furthermore, compared to the draconian rules in place in Westminster, they are extremely weak.
He says what has the town council to hide? The answer is nothing – all our meetings are open to the public and always have been, unlike some other councils.
He needs to stop obsessing about Keighley Town Council and get on with his job and start creating a society that does not need foodbanks in 21st century Britain.
