SIR – I have recently heard very disturbing news, which I thought you might want to know about.

You may have heard of fracking. It is part of the Government’s current ‘dash for gas’ policy, and involves drilling and excavation of gas from the rocks under our feet.

The Government has earmarked two-thirds of England for this, including areas all around KeighleyOakworth, Cross Hills etc – for drilling.

Do you want to risk this happening when the risks are unproven? When we do not know what effect it is likely to have on our health or the countryside and its wildlife? When reliance on fossil fuels is thus perpetuated, exacerbating climate change?

However, there is a way this can be stopped in our particular area. It is unlawful for fracking companies to drill under your home without your permission.

Visit ‘Wrongmove fracking’ to find out where fracking is planned, and how to put a legal block on it happening underneath you.

But we need to act quickly, as there are hints the Government will try to change the law to support their ‘dash for gas’ and prevent dissent.
