SIR – I’m very pleased to support the call by Councillor Mike Gibbons, chairman of the health and social care scrutiny committee, in relation to the proposed Labour Council’s intention to remove the moderate level of care for vulnerable people in our district.
It is important that this issue is looked at in depth by the committee, and in particular the consultation process findings, which should have been the primary guiding light in this decision.
With an overwhelming majority of those supporting retaining the moderate level of social care, it is very disappointing that the Council values saving around £1m over peoples dignity.
I look forward to seeing a robust but fair scrutiny of this topic.
Councillor Michael McCabe, Thornton & Allerton, Conservative spokesman Adult Social Services
