SIR – I wrote to the T&A three weeks ago about the old tarmac being dug up in the High Street in Wyke, revealing the old cobblestones.
I did notice there were no potholes in the cobbles, suggesting they remained uncovered as they were laid down to last, not needing repairs. There would be no need for speed ramps either, as your car would rattle so much the bolts would come undone.
The reason for this letter? The street is still the same. Sections of tarmac are still to be dug up, manhole covers are still protruding upwards, causing vehicles to avoid them.
Three weeks have gone by and there is still no new tarmac laid. What’s going on here then? Answers please from local councillors.
