SIR – Even for a Clegg man, John Hall in his letter (T&A, May 30) has come up with a stupid analogy, likening the temporary hanging-out of clothes with permanent monstrous unreliable turbines, in answer to my friend and colleague Jason Smith’s assertion they devalue property.

Whether they devalue it by 40 or four per cent it is untenable and I feel quite confident that he would be very unhappy if his house suffered any loss loss of value.

The only thing he has correct is the fact that the sun and the wind dry things on a line, and which is the only thing they do permanently and economically.

Go on JH, keep talking your party into oblivion.
