SIR – Re the letter in the T&A (May 23) regarding the Pentecost Praise event in City Park on May 19. I attended this event with Canon Stephen Treasure and a lot of our congregation from All Saints Church.

What an afternoon, brilliant sunshine, plenty of entertainment and wonderful hymns and songs. More than 3,000 people attended this event and a variety of cultures were present.

My question is this, why was no member of the T&A present to take pictures for your paper?

In recent weeks we had a parade of the Sikhs in colourful dress and a march of the Muslim community’s celebration in Tile Street to the mosque, a parade of the Bradford City team and their supporters through Bradford centre and today an event at the Bulls ground, all featured in colour on pages of the T&A.

What is it about Pentecost Praise, a Christian event, that we can’t even get a mention in your paper? I would like to think this letter will be published but I have my doubts.

Editor’s note: The response to Mr Dallas addressed the coverage before the event. We did carry pictures from the event itself on Monday as part of a round-up of the many weekend events that took place.

Aside from the fact that we had to allocate significant resources to Bradford City playing at Wembley, with 25,000 fans travelling down, and many more cheering them on in the city, that weekend also saw the Lord Mayor’s Parade, the Haworth 1940s weekend, the Urban Festival in City Park, Otley Show and Pudsey Carnival, all of which also attracted thousands of people.

We would have liked to have used more pictures from Pentecost Praise, but a combination of timing, resources and lack of space meant it was not to be, and we are sorry if those who attended feel let down.
