SIR – Last week, amid news of a nationwide crisis in Accident & Emergency departments, I received excellent care for a broken wrist at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Many thanks to the NHS ambulance service and to BRI staff. Good working relationships were evident, including hands-on training for a new paramedic and a fourth-year medical student.
My accident was on a midweek morning, but A&E is almost always busy. The NHS target to see all arrivals within four hours is very challenging.
Members of the public can help by using A&E only when it is essential. For anything that isn’t an emergency, contact your GP or pharmacist first for advice.
