SIR – Thank you for highlighting the cuts to social care that the Labour-run Council is proposing. Their decision could leave thousands of vulnerable people trapped in their homes, unable to wash, dress or feed themselves properly. This is hardly what you would expect from a party claiming to be socialists.
In Bradford we can be proud that we have protected the most vulnerable when other Councils across the country have failed. Now it seems, under Labour’s control, the priorities have changed.
On the advice of wealthy executives with six figure salaries, paying consultants even more, they claim there is no money.
Please sign our petition at signme.org.uk/817 and ask your family and friends to do the same. In the meantime, I will campaign to remove this oligarchy, and your readers are welcome to join me.
Ian Lyons, Liberal Democrat, Parish Councillor (Baildon East), Cliffe Avenue, Baildon
