SIR – Realistically there is no future for the Cock & Bottle public house however much we would wish this to be. Attempts have been made over many years to keep it a going concern and all have failed.
So what can we do to save for posterity this 190-year-old building with its interior of fittings and glasswork of major historic interest?
May I suggest that the building (in whole or part) be rebuilt at the Industrial Museum to join the back-to-back period cottages so that the public can have the pleasure of enjoying the Cock & Bottle public house with its unique fixtures and fittings.
This historic public house should not be lost for future generations.
